Main Contract (Bovis Lend Lease)

The Liverpool Echo Arena opened in January and has already hosted a number of high profile events, including the formal launch of Capital of Culture year and a concert by Westlife. The Galleria and Multi Purpose Hall opened in February and hosted a national conference and property awards event at the end of that month. The BT Convention Centre opened successfully in April. Well over 200 events have already been confirmed for this year alone. External landscaping and works surrounding the car park are close to completion.

Infrastructure Contract (Birse Civils)

The road and footpath network, services, lighting and landscaping were completed on schedule in October 2006. Subsequent works to re-align fire hydrants on the riverside road were completed in December. The final element, soft landscaping adjoining the hotels, has commenced.

Hotel (McAleer & Rushe)

The 310 bedroom Jurys Inn Hotel, which opened successfully in April and adjoining 132 bedroom ‘aparthotel’, on schedule to open in June by BDL Staybridge – the first venture by the US based company in Europe – overlooking the public piazza. Pizza Express due to open June.

Phase 1 Residential (City Lofts/David McLean)

Joint developers City Lofts and David McLean are developing 429 apartments in three towers at the south west corner of the site. Project details are being finalised with landowner English Partnerships with a view to construction start later this year.

Car Park Residential (Artisan)

Work is well advanced on the construction of 96 apartments by specialist housing developer Artisan on the southern and eastern elevations of the multi storey car park. Completion is scheduled for October 2008.

Dukes Dock Bridge

The new pedestrian bridge at Dukes Dock was completed on schedule in September 2007 and is already providing an important route for pedestrian access to and from Kings.

Pavilion (Halo Seddon)

The ‘Pavilion’ by developer Halo Seddon at the entrance to the piazza is on schedule for opening in Spring 2008. Pizza Express will be the sole operator.

Development Opportunity

Landowner English Partnerships has invited bids for the development of two adjoining sites on either side of Queens Wharf at the main vehicular entrance to the site. The closing date for bids is 11 April 2008. For details please click here.
