Masterplan - Planning Principles

The masterplan for Kings, prepared by international planning consultants EDAW under the direction of the project partners, has been designed to address several fundamental planning and design issues:

• The historic character of the waterfront and the relationship of new development at Kings with buildings such as Albert Dock
• Linkages with the wider City Centre
• Access to the site and circulation within it
• Car parking
• The nature and extent of public spaces
• The relationship of different land uses within the site
• Building height and the use of materials

The masterplan was the subject of two major public exhibitions and separate design workshops, with feedback carefully appraised to help shape the final content, layout and design.
