Liverpool - Capital of Culture 2008

Managed by Liverpool Vision and its partners Liverpool City Council, English Partnerships and Northwest Regional Development Agency, Liverpool has embarked on a high profile renaissance for the city centre.

The award to Liverpool of European Capital of Culture 2008 has boosted confidence further and provided an inmpetus for unparalleled levels of investment in the retail led development of the Paradise Street area, the business district centred on Old Hall Street, and the Ropewalks, Baltic and Hope Street areas.

Liverpool's waterfront has a vital role to play in this regeneration and a number of projects have been designed to expand the business and leisure tourism offer. In addition to Kings, these initiatives include a museum and mixed use development at Mann Island at the Pier Head, a new section of canal linking the Leeds/Liverpool Canal with the South Docks, and a landing stage for cruise liners at Princes Dock .
