Background - Design Development


Under the management of the project partners, a team of architects, planners, engineers and other specialist consultants was appointed to advance the scheme. Public exhibitions and workshops attended by local residents, businesses and other interested parties helped to refine the masterplan. A detailed planning application, submitted in June 2004, was approved in December that year.


Funding approval from EU Objective 1 programme, English Partnerships, Northwest Regional Development Agency and Liverpool City Council was confirmed in the early part of 2005, and contractors appointed.


Infrastructure work on roads, services and utilities started in June 2005 and the main contract in October 2005.
